UNSUNG RHYMES

Life is like the grass on the other side

In between lies a pool of dirty water where swimming is obligatory

Living in the shallows, cross it if you want to believe.

The wind that blows towards the south will surely return to the north

Every language we learned to communicate is taking us apart

I am losing interest in sermons

I am losing memories of meanings

And it is only poetry I Love

Fences and trees, gates and bricks

Tell me a story

Those hands who laid the stone

That water which wanted to meet the ocean

But trapped in the ponds slowly losing hope of survival

They yell my name but I am too ignorant

Every bullet that has been fired, I find them meaningless

Just to not get hurt, they make others suffer

Just like the unexpected monsoon breaking the petals

Losing my days, I am becoming fragile too

And when there is thunder, it is the noise that kills me

So please talk to me softly

When death comes, I’ll be ready

Till then let me be me

‘Cause, in the end, everything has to perish

Like the wonders still undiscovered

Few will be buried with the secrets

Yesterday was all about making tomorrow

Catching up for things, I lost you

And when I die, secrets will be buried too

Pleased by looking at my own history

Everything is changing rapidly

Carrying dreams with open eyes, I am traveling without destiny

Every word I come across, I find them new

Paths I follow are narrow and the streets confuse

Destroying ourselves and creating A.I.

Whom should I believe and why?

I turn up to the sky and find everything blue

Nothing has been worse than my thoughts

In the darkness, it takes a form

The only thing I could think of was you

Then the shadow turned into a nightmare

Telling me this is where love turns a man into a poet

I am not born out of it though

Like the poppies blooming in the field

Rather I was raised by a man who doesn’t exist anymore

Like the movies, I wanted to be a superhero

Protagonist, where world is just a show

I am losing interest in existence

Destined to stop one day soon or late

We have lost many, gained many

When time, the master of illusion decides

It doesn’t follow racism while taking lives

From dust, we rose, bore the human thorns

Pricking each other, we continue to grow

Society always gave us the way to betray ourselves

Status & luxuries replaced the basics

How can I forget how much I wanted to live

But my nest was made of weeds

I was left with un-grown wings

Flying and smashing myself, guess this is learning

I am surviving just like others

But with few miseries

What can be the replacement for my tragedy

Even the water that flows contains the unseen color in it

Scared of the chaos that lives in me

Nothing seems to go off easily

How should I decide which path to ride

All seem to lead me nowhere

Though I tried, dusty and rocky

Plains and mountains, when the sun hides

I see myself standing against it everywhere

Everything that starts has got an end

Yet we always see grass greener on the other side.
